Are you unsure of what security controls you need, how to protect your social media accounts, or even how to make sure your accounts are actually secure? As a cyber security expert for service providers and online business owners, I understand the technical jargon and have spent years reviewing and creating security strategies, protecting brands and assets for awesome businesses just like yours.

It does not have to be stressful or break the bank to protect your business!

I know that cyber security consultancies can be expensive and intimidating to work with, which is why I decided to create Sassy Security – to help you. As an online business owner myself, I know the essentials needed to tackle the security side of operating in a digital world.

Hey! I’m Rachael, founder of Sassy Security. After a 10-year corporate cyber security career in the Financial Services industry, I ended up falling in love with online businesses and the freedom (hello, flexibility!) that they provided me. As I started sharing reasons and ways to protect a business in the online world, everyone I knew was asking me for exclusive support. Business owners didn’t have the time or technical ability to implement changes themselves. When I saw how much this was needed, Sassy Security was born.

I created this business to support service providers and online entrepreneurs in getting to the point where they are protecting (and excited about) their thriving business.

Rachael is a cyber security expert who works in the financial services industry protecting household global brands and their customers. She founded Sassy Security in 2021 after noticing a huge gap in the market for small business owners and service providers to understand cyber security and online security in a fun, supportive and relatable way after spending years in the jargon-filled world of professional services. When not at her computer, she loves hanging out with her family, dancing with friends, trying to replicate her favourite restaurant meals, and connecting with other online business owners. Rachael has a BSc (Hons) degree in Forensic Computing and Security and is a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM).

  1. I enjoy recreating my favourite restaurant meals, I even bought a pizza oven during lockdown. And yes, pineapple on pizza is delicious. Cold pizza on the other hand? Absolutely not.
  2. I find assembling flatpack furniture very satisfying.
  3. I wanted to grow up to become a CSI (crime scene investigator) because I love crime dramas, especially the cheesy ones like CSI:Miami, NCSI, Columbo, Poirot, and Murder She Wrote.
  4. I have a few nicknames amongst my friends: “IT Support” because I’m always helping them with technical queries; “Dora” because I usually wear a backpack like Dora the Explorer; and “Cyber Sister” because my sister and I both work in cyber security.
  5. I love music – I’m the person who brings the portable speaker to an event.
  6. Female representation in IT and Cyber Security is low. As a result, I am passionate about encouraging more women and girls to follow STEM careers.
  7. If we’re having a house party, I’ll make the cocktails! My favourite is an espresso martini.
  8. I’m slightly obsessed with audiobooks and podcasts. I’ve recently listened to and recommend the following audiobooks: Troubled Blood by Robert Galbraith, Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid, Start Now Get Perfect Later by Rob Moore, and Superfans by Pat Flynn.
